Share Have you managed to grab yourself a new iPod? Even if you haven't theres a couple of fantastic docking stations new to AMP3.

The Sony X80 - We seen this product in Andy's AMP3 TV review not long ago, What was the outcome??? Fantastic! With an explosion of sound this docking system won't cease to impress you, the audio reproduction of this system is simply fantastic. Hands free control via the handy remote and sound that rivals the Bose Sound Dock!

Well worth a look (see the Sony X80 here).

RDPX80IPB_CEK_SIDE2.jpg
"The Sony’s sound quality is fabulous. Coldplay’s Parachutes is reproduced with hearty bass tones and crisp, tuneful guitar licks, while Chris Martin’s voice is clear and full of body. Try turning it up loud and it copes well at high volumes, filling the room with sound and steadfastly refusing to distort."

Yamaha's PDX-50

Not quite wanting to go all out and splash the cash for the Sony Dock - Yamaha have a docking system that is based on convenience of use! Yamaha's PDX50 is a wireless option that gives you the convenience of using your own iPod as a remote! This handy system lets you place your Yamaha PDX speaker anywhere you want and control it from the comfort of your couch using your very own iPod and the supplied dongle attatchment. This is a very clever system that even turns off when there is no signal from your iPod!

Check it out at AMP3 (see Yamaha PDX50 here).
"Part of a new 'Desktop Audio' range from Yamaha, it uses AirWired technology to transmit the signal losslessly; this combines with a capable amp and driver arrangement to create an impressive musical performance."

Sonos Zoneplayer S5 gets 5G Rating From Jon Bentley

Share Jon Bentley on Sonos!

On this weeks Gadget Show Jon Bentley met up with DJ Mark Goodier to discuss the highly acclaimed Sonos Zoneplayer S5.

With many people now opting for digital music library’s rather than using CD’s the opportunities for wireless music around the house are endless.

Gaining the ‘best product’ award was the Sonos Zoneplayer S5.
The S5 is the latest model from Sonos who specialise in wireless music streaming.

Jon Bentely was immediately impressed with the fact that the Sonos Zoneplayer had “5 built-in speakers as well as the necessary wireless receiver” as this meant that he could pick up the Sonos S5 and place the speaker anywhere he liked!

With set-up being equally as simple as positioning of the product, a simple action of clicking a few buttons on top of the player, Jon and Mark were ready to grab the controller and start their wireless music experience in no time at all. Not restricted to the Sonos Controller for control, Jon was also able to control his musical experience by using the “free app for iPod”.

A simple click of a button and the music started to play without any delay with the sound being noticeably “in a different league” to the other products tested. Where some of the other products lacked the ability to play immediately in sync the Sonos S5 was “immaculately in sync” - “perfect” was the only way to describe it.

Conclusion

All in the operation and control of multiple zoneplayers proved to be a breeze…“operating all three units is easy….playing a different song in each room was simple”. The Sonos grabbed the full 5G rating – “Easy to set up, Easy to use and Definitely sound superb”.

Other products mentioned in their wireless streaming were Apple’s Airport Express and Logitech’s Squeezebox Touch – both obtained a 3G rating.

New iPods announced - Impressed??

Share
There has been no mix of reaction in the AMP3 office as
Apple spills out the next generation of iPods.

Getting a first glimpse of the next Gen iPods for many would have been an exciting moment
and for many many more perhaps a bit of an anti-climax...

The Touch - an iPhone is disguise? not quite!

Looking very similar to the iPhone 3G with Apple's "most advanced technology" (Steve Jobs) - some of which included nice 326dpi Retina Display, cameras on the front and the rear and enabled FaceTime videoconferencing over WIFI. The new cameras are an excellent addition however lacking to be as 'advanced' technologically as the iPhone 4's cameras - the "most advanced technology" eh?

All in, the iPod Touch 'does it' for many of you out there....does the new Gen do it for you?

The Nano

What happened to the Nano's click wheel? Its been there since it first came onto the scene! Personally, i think the click wheel is a necessity, skipping music with the Nano still in your pocket, using it 'blindly' is a great option to have.

None the less this is Apples best attempt at innovation (or reinventing) featuring a 1.54" 220ppi 240x240 TFT display. Its smaller, sleeker and 'touch sensitive'.

What are your thoughts on the Touch Sensitive screen on the Nano? Fan or do you prefer the Retro 'Click Wheel'?

The Shuffle - No that's not the 2nd Gen Shuffle you see, that's the new generation! Breaking loose from the fussy cable controls Apple have taken one step forward and two back on the design front - For the better it would seem. By bringing back the clickable buttons and combining them with the VoiceOver Technology - its a second and third gen hybrid!

The shuffle no ingenious innovation but there are new features...kind of! What do you think of the shuffle?

Let us know your opinions on the 'New Generation' of iPods, have apple done enough, are these as desireable as they should be?

Join us and comment on Facebook or Twitter - there has been plenty activity on this subject already!
